Unhealthy

Breathing polluted air can cause throat irritation, coughing, and shortness of breath. Consider moving exercise indoors and wearing a mask if you must go out.

Compare & explore

See how air quality differs across nearby cities and how wind moves pollution across the region.

Free air quality tracking for any city worldwide

Aether turns complex pollution data into a single Air Quality Index (AQI) you can act on in seconds. Check live readings, hourly and daily forecasts, pollutant breakdowns, and nearby monitoring areas — then read our in-depth guides when you need context on PM2.5, smoke, exercise, asthma, and more.

We publish original explainers and city-specific air quality pages for 52 major metros — not syndicated news feeds or scraped third-party articles. Browse the cities directory for local pollution context alongside live data.

How we source air quality data

Live estimates come from Open-Meteo (CAMS satellite and atmospheric models). Where available, ground station readings are integrated from the World Air Quality Index network. Weather context — temperature, wind, and humidity — uses the same Open-Meteo forecast API.

Aether is an informational tool for everyday awareness. It is not a substitute for medical advice or official government air quality alerts. For health-critical decisions, always follow guidance from your local environmental health authority.
